System Management
Here you can see the central settings for your 1-2-3 music store. Mostly, you won't need to change anything here unless you change your hosting provider or database directory structure. What you may want to change regularly, however, are your login details - for security reasons.
Note: All settings here are critical - pay close attention to spelling because a single wrong letter can take your store offline!

Setting System Preferences
This section deals with the "technical" side of the store. It contains settings for the site itself, file locations, PayPal properties and database access. To help avoid mistakes, we have placed help texts in the System Preferences screen.
Important: You must have a PayPal buisiness account to run the 1-2-3 music store. If you don't have one yet, open one now! It's free and only takes about five minutes.
To view or edit system preferences:
- On the start screen, click System Preferences.
- You will go to a new screen. This is divided into sections:
General:
- You can see your name, the name of the website or store and your e-mail address. This e-mail address is used for all shop-related communication.
- Music Store URL - This is the URL for your 1-2-3 Music Store.
- Program Path - this is the location of the 1-2-3 Music Store on your server. It should be the public area directory.
- Docma File - this is the directory where your docma file, for all song and artwork files, is located. It should be the private area directory.
- Click Save to save any changes or proceed to the next section.
PayPal Account:
- E-mail - this is your PayPal email address. This e-mail address is used for all communication with PayPal and billing.
- Click Save to save any changes or proceed to the next section.
Authentication Settings:
- This is your user name, password and e-mail address. If you forget your password, it will be sent to this e-mail address.
- Click Save to save any changes or proceed to the next section.
Database Settings
- These settings come from your hosting service provider. They are the location for your MySQL database server, your MySQL username, password and the name of the MySQL database.
- Click Save to save any changes and you're finished.

Setting Product Preferences
Here you can set standard properties for all albums and songs in the music store.
- On the start screen, click Product Preferences.
- You will go to a new screen. This screen is divided into sections:
Upload Music & Artwork Files:
- Choose how you want to upload your files - via FTP or browser.
- Click Save or proceed to the next section.
Note: FTP upload is generally faster and more reliable, but requires extra software - an FTP client. There are many FTP clients available; one of the most popular is WS FTP, which you can download for free.
Currency Settings:
- Choose which currencies you want to use in your store. Check the box to select a currency.
- Continue to Standard Currency. Select which currency should be used as standard in your music store.
- Click Save or proceed to the next section.
Standard Product Price Settings:
- Enter a standard price for each currency you want to use. You can still offer songs at specific prices but setting a standard price saves you time and work later.
- Click Save or proceed to the next section.
Note: visit the PayPal site for useful information on using multiple currencies. You may also find a currency converter helpful...
Minimum Revenue Settings:
- Minimum revenue is the lowest price possible. Paypal always takes 30 cent
per transaction + 2.9% of the transaction value. This amount has to be added
to the money you take per song - if you want to sell music at 40 cents a
song, the total price (including the paypal fees) will be 71 cents. Minimum
revenue is effectively 30 cents, because this is what you need to give to
paypal.
Enter a minimum revenue for each currency.
- Click Save or proceed to the next section.
Paging Settings:
- Decide how many products you want to see per page in the list view. Enter the number in the box.
- Click Save and you're finished.
